I’m always in a state of reevaluation. I kind of have to be. What works for me; what isn’t working for me. I got a really great and ironic reminder about this very topic when our new standard poodle ripped into a local paper left on our driveway (pictured above). Many times I do my reevaluations on Sunday mornings on the way to church. No kidding! There’s nothing like a Sunday morning hustle with five kids to make you reevaluate your life. I think back through my week and which parts gave me the most problems and think through what the possible remedies are.
Do the Hustle
During one of those evaluations I decided to finally break down and buy an Instant Pot (here). Serving dinner late happens sometimes. It does and when it does it throws everyone into a funk. With the Instant Pot, if I have a crazy day or forget to defrost something, I can have dinner out anyway. It’s become my new superstar. It cooks all kinds of things in record time including bone broth! It has a stainless steel interior that I feel good about and numerous safety features.
Ants Be Gone
I also got a really terrific fire ant bite this past week, then forgot about it till it swelled and irritated me. I added to my list to throw boiling water on several little ant hills that recently popped up. Bye, bye ants. You bother me. I got the idea from The Healthy Home Economist (here).
Relax and Learn
My kids are all homeschooled and my third grader has already learned cursive. She taught herself from a chart I gave her and practices all the time. I decided to let her try some fancy chicken scratch aka calligraphy. So, I bought her this book (here). It should arrive tomorrow. I’m going to practice right along with her. We all need time to be quiet, sit down and de-stress. Sometimes I need a break from my adult coloring book which I use to de-stress (here).
That’s it from the Brothaholic home. I hope you have a great week!
